We in the Find team make the world's addresses and places findable. Our daily work is all about optimizing and writing new code, coming up with new or improved ways to understand the query of our customers and enhancing our APIs. The HERE Find team provides services for accurate location information retrieval and plays a key role in the HERE platform. Well-known enterprises leverage our services and platform for locating addresses and location tracking at a rate of thousands of hits each second.
We are looking for a passionate, experienced software engineer to strengthen our API team.
The API is at the forefront of the Geocoding & Search service, our face to customers.
Per month it is serving tens of billions of requests, tens of thousands of customers, and collecting millions of end-user signals, all growing. For this, it has to be highly concurrent, highly scalable and super resilient.
As part of the team, you will:

Who are you?

Experience with Scala, ideally from having worked on highly scalable services or platforms and/or micro services in a cloud environmentExperience writing and working with REST APIsSound understanding of basic algorithms and data structuresExpertise in backend services, concurrency, multi-threading and memory managementSelf-driven and goal orientedGood communicator, team player with good written and spoken EnglishNice-to-have

HERE Technologies is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our highly motivated Mapmaking team in Germany, ideally based in Schwalbach, thoughBerlin is also an option for the right candidate. The Mapmaking team builds and operates core technologies and services for onboarding, processing, and quality assuring digital map data. You will lead cross-functional, globally distributed teams responsible for developing high-scale map processing services, evolving geospatial algorithms, and managing AWS-based infrastructure. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and strategic influence in the fields of cloud, big data, and AI-driven geospatial processing.
As a technical leader and an effective people manager, you can hold your own in a technical discussion, be a subject matter expert, and influence strategic product and technical decisions across organizations. You understand the primary importance of hiring top talent, coaching, and developing people to bring out their best and to foster an engaged, collaborative, and respectful team culture.You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders like Product, Program, Sales, and the Architecture function to define technical product and business solution requirements. Who are you?
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Geo-Informatics, or a related field.
8+ years of proven technical leadership and people management experience, including managing globally distributed teams.
7+ years of backend and/or services application development experience.
Strong knowledge of software architecture, design, and code review.
Proven experience with any of the following SW dev languages like Java, Scala, Python, SQL
Expertise with DBMS, preferably PostgreSQL or Oracle.
Experience building high-throughput, low-latency, and highly reliable systems at scale.
Familiarity with HTTP, REST, JSON, and microservices architectures.
Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud environments.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
Strong background in DevOps practices and CI/CD, with tools such as JIRA, Git, and GitLab.
Experience with high availability NoSQL databases, Big Data processing Frameworks, Spark, Flink, and Kafka.Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Knowledge of geospatial data handling, OS libraries, frameworks, and GeoJSON.
